What Employer Sponsored Visas facilitate
Employer-sponsored visas let skilled workers:
- Live and work in Australia (temporarily or permanently)
- Work only for their sponsoring employer for the visa period
- Bring eligible family members
- Apply for permanent residency (depending on the visa stream)

Skills in Demand (SID)
TemporaryPrimary temporary employer-sponsored visa
- Replaced the old TSS visa in December 2024 (subclass number unchanged)
- Valid for up to 4 years
- PR pathway via Subclass 186 TRT after 2 years
- Requires Standard Business Sponsorship (SBS)
Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS)
PermanentPrimary permanent employer-sponsored visa
- No labour market testing required
- Permanent residency granted immediately
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (SESR)
Provisional5-year provisional visa for designated regional areas
- Must live and work in a designated regional area
- PR pathway via Subclass 191 after 3 years
- Requires SBS sponsorship
Training Visa
TrainingTemporary visa (up to 2 years; 3 years for government-sponsored)
- For structured workplace-based training, not productive work
- Sponsored by a Temporary Activities Sponsor, not SBS
- No direct PR pathway
