Partner Visa (Onshore)
TemporaryTwo-stage partner visa applied for inside Australia
- Stage 1 (820) temporary visa — apply onshore with a bridging visa while processing
- Stage 2 (801) permanent visa — usually assessed ~2 years after lodging
- Sponsor must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible NZ citizen
- Married or de facto couples (12+ months living together)
Partner Visa (Offshore)
TemporaryTwo-stage partner visa applied for outside Australia
- Stage 1 (309) temporary visa — lodged outside Australia
- Stage 2 (100) permanent visa after the waiting period
- Same relationship evidence as the onshore stream
- Travel freely to Australia once the 309 is granted
Prospective Marriage
TemporaryFor fiancés planning to marry in Australia
- 9 months to marry after arriving in Australia
- Then transition to the onshore 820/801 partner visa
- Sponsor and applicant must have met in person (as adults)
Contributory Parent
PermanentPermanent residency for parents of Australian residents
- Faster processing than the queued 103 parent visa
- Higher application charge paid across the two stages
- Balanced family test and Assurance of Support required
Child Visa
